Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits

As part of their educational process, these students/GP registrars have access to and contact with patients and their records. All students sign a confidentiality form regarding the importance of sensitive information.

You have the right not to have a student present at your consultation and to refuse to see a student doctor.
