Removal of Stroke Services at Walsall Manor

GPs and practice staff are being reminded that there are NO Hyper Acute or Acute Stroke Services at Walsall Manor Hospital.

All suspected stroke and stroke mimic cases should be taken to New Cross Hospital, in Wolverhampton by blue light ambulance using the 999 system.

Several communication messages about this service change has been sent to practices over the past six months. As you will recall on April 11, 2018 all acute stroke services moved to New Cross, which now deals with all cases from the Walsall area.

We have sent out this reminder as a number of TIAs are still being sent to Walsall Manor Hospital – which is not a front line blue light service. These patients should have been sent to New Cross Hospital and not Walsall Manor.
